Profile
Alyson Mahar is an epidemiologist and health services researcher at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. She is an Assistant Professor in the Health Quality Program in the School of Nursing. Dr. Mahar completed her MSc and PhD in Epidemiology at Queen’s University followed by a post doctoral position in the Cancer Program at ICES. Dr. Mahar’s research program is focused on using population-based routinely collected health and social data to address inequitable outcomes along the cancer continuum. Her primary research is informed by principles of intersectionality and patient engagement and partnership. She is currently involved in or leading work in the measurement of cancer care disparities, personalized prognostication, and the evaluation of cancer care access and quality. Dr. Mahar is funded by the Canadian Cancer Society as an Emerging Scholar for MEGAN-CAN, a five-year research program focused on measuring and generating evidence around the inequitable delivery of Canadian cancer care across the continuum. Dr. Mahar is currently accepting undergraduate, graduate, and post doctoral trainees interested in evaluating outcomes along the cancer continuum.
